As tributes go, it does not seem much, but it's easier to sleep at night knowing that one has, at least, wasted one perfectly good weekend to make a flimsy tribute to one's idol. The author of this piece being a control freak, stuffs will naturally be presented according to chronological order (whenever possible). Also note that although attempts were made to minimize the fangirlism, the readers should realize that we are all, ultimately, humans, and should ignore all the heart-shaped things and drools that occasionally appear along this tribute.

Dune, 1993

First album, first PV. The Heavenly era (a personal favorite) look can only be rivaled by this early robe-and-hair look in Dune. The flowing long wavy hair, half-tied at the back. The flowing white robe. Everything flowed in Dune, unaware that commercialization would claim its toll in the space of one album from this one. For this fan, aside from the number Flood of Tears, Dune and the 2nd album, were possibly the most difficult album to enjoy at first go. However, once the songs caught on, they hang on. For years. Mauve still surprises herself in dark alleys when gloomy minorish strains of Be Destined floated in the air in its poorer form of whistle notes.

Both images were capped from my copy of As if In a Dream. The first image hinted at that drama queen potential, (although it is better portrayed in a scene from Dune PV where he showed his sand-eating ability), which over the years turned into full-bloom stage hysterics that made him stand out among the colorful collection of peacocks that is j-rock stars. Even DEG's Kyo never quite came close. But that is another story.

The second caps is the result of a fast right-click to the mouse, when the image shifted from Hyde looking out the window to Hyde singing in the plains (which is what the former is looking at I suppose). It would have been a nice wallpaper material but, alas, for the quality of the bootleg.

How old was he at this time? Hyde had been unfortunate in that he has a band leader who, for some reason, happens to be proud of his own year of birth, 1969 (what is it? the shape? the number? the Chinese zodiac?). Bassplayer Tetsu (also another story) announced it to the world, and added, casually, by the way, here's me vocalist who is also the same age. Har har. So, the estimate would be about 24 or so. *Heart breaks*
